Richard the Lionheart is a major character in the first book. The second book, which for me was probably the most memorable, takes place in Constantinople during the Fourth Crusade. Wow, did that Crusade get off track. :| I think the trilogy is called The Hounds of God, but maybe that's just the title of the third book. I can't remember. I don't know much about the Crusades, but I've always wanted to learn more about them.
